About Zodiac Sign Finder

The sign table used here is the everyday calendar one, the same day boundaries every almanac and sign quiz prints, so the answer matches what other finders say. It is an approximation in a real sense: the sun crosses each sign boundary on a day that drifts slightly from year to year, and the conventional dates are the accepted mean. Nothing here claims ephemeris precision.

Because those boundaries drift, a date within one day of a boundary is flagged: the page prints a cusp warning naming the exact boundary the date sits next to. On cusp days the sign a quiz gives comes down to which table it uses, and this page shows exactly where its own table bends.

The facts rows use this page's tables: the element is the classical elemental triplicity, the modality is the sign's class - Cardinal (it opens on an equinox or solstice), Fixed (steady mid-season) or Mutable (transitional); every element contains exactly one of each. The ruling planet shown is one widely published esoteric rulers table - Sun for Leo, Moon for Cancer, and planets paired to the signs as above. Other sites' ruler tables differ; the table printed here is what this page states.

Questions about Zodiac Sign Finder

What is a cusp?

A cusp is the day the sun changes sign. If you were born close to one, the sign a quiz gives you comes from the table it happens to use, not from anything in the sky.

Can cusps actually change my sign?

Only if a different table draws the boundary a day earlier or later. Every modern table puts these boundaries at the exact dates this page lists, so a cusp-born person should keep both signs in mind.

What are modality and ruling planet for?

Modality names whether a sign opens, holds or closes its element's cycle, which astrologers use to describe how it behaves. Ruling planet is an old esoteric attribution of a body to each sign; tables differ between sources, and this page states its own.

Is this the zodiac with the dates on a fortune cookie?

Yes: the Gregorian calendar table, the one almost every sign quiz and horoscope uses.

Does a leap-year birthday matter?

No. The sign depends only on month and day; the year is used only to date this page's cusp rows.
