About Inflation Calculator
The site keeps no CPI table, so the tool asks what annual rate to apply and compounds it across every year between the dates. That is constant-rate maths, and the result is labelled as a modelled figure wherever it is shown.
For a rough historical conversion the long-run average inflation rate is a serviceable number; for planning ahead, type the rate you expect. Either way the year-by-year walk lets any year of the span be read straight off the table.
Questions about Inflation Calculator
Is the answer official CPI?
No. Official CPI moves year to year and needs the published index; this applies one constant rate you supply and says so on the result.
What rate should I type?
For historical conversions use the long-run inflation average for the currency; for plans and forecasts use what you expect to pay.
Does the rate compound or add?
Compounds: each year multiplies what is in hand by (1 + rate). A negative rate shrinks the value instead.
