About Grade Converter

Convert any grade between the percentage, US letter and GPA points, UCAS points, German 0-15 maturity scale, and French out-of-20 scales. Every scale is folded onto one percent axis, then read out through each other, so the conversions stay consistent in both directions.

Ambiguous cases are resolved by stated conventions: a letter grade converts to the middle of its percentage band, and UCAS points have no official percentage, so this page treats the tariff as a 0-56 scale.

Questions about Grade Converter

Is E a US grade or a UCAS grade?

The classic US curve tops out at A, so a bare E is read as the US F band. Write the scale as UCAS (or type E*) when you mean the UK pass grade.

How can a letter grade become a percentage at all?

Every band covers a range of percentages, so a letter converts to the middle of its band — a 93-100 A reads as 96.5%. The band limits are printed for the grade you entered.

Do UCAS points have percentages?

No. UCAS publishes tariff points, not marks. This page shows percent = points / 56 x 100, and when going the other way rounds percent x 0.56 to the nearest tariff grade.

What is the German 0-15 scale?

The maturity point scale behind the Abitur and IB baccalaureate marks (a 12 means a strong pass). Points map straight onto the percent axis at a tenth of a point per percent.
